The “Uniquely” model brings together the business models and best practices experienced in product development, marketing, export readiness, supply chain management, distribution, business management and the creative use of information technology. The model creates value through a system of services that connect small suppliers with customers at home and abroad. Impact is committed to building sustainable enterprises in countries that contribute to the economic, social, cultural and environmental well beings of all stakeholders.
“Uniquely” was created, developed and produced by Impact Communications Ltd. in 1989 in British Columbia and over 16 years expanded to programs across Canada —Uniquely BC, Uniquely Alberta, Uniquely Prairies, Uniquely Ontario andUniquely Canada — and internationally, Uniquely Slovenia.
During that time, over 12,000 Canadians chose “Uniquely” as their source for product, busienss and trade development to launch their products into the wholesale gift show marketplace.
Over the years, Impact has had the pleasure of witnessing the growth, development and success of these companies; and most importantly, creating lasting relationships and friendships. The innovative and creative products produced by each micro-entrepreneur have helped build the lasting identity of the “Uniquely” best practices model, and has been adapted and modified for many developing countries.
Uniquely Concept
We recognize the needs of small producers to gradually expand their businesses allowing them to reach their full potential. Our experience has shown that the biggest challenge facing small business, especially women, is “access to the marketplace”.
The Impact team, comprised of merchandise and business specialists, adjudicate products / companies on the following basis:
- Quality of the product
- Marketability of the product
- Wholesale and Retail pricing of the product
- Packaging / shelf appeal
- Physical capacity (manufacturing)
- Financial capacity
- Planning and growth
- Adherence to values and philosophies regarding environment and labour relations.
Program Variables
Each country is unique with different needs so program variables are key to success. The trade show component offers participants an excellent marketing venue. However, Impact Communications Ltd. has been successful in offering the adjudication process as a stand-alone component which can be adapted to meet the needs of the participating country and/or region. In addition, Impact Communications offers a Train the Trainer component, helping to build capacity within communities, and in other countries. Funding models have been developed to subsidize this program using various corporate and government sponsorship strategies.
“Branchising” Opportunities
“Branchising” opportunities are available with the objective to raise the international level of five key areas of a countries’ role in supporting, fostering and growing small and micro business producers in the arts, crafts, gift producing or specialty food manufacturing areas in the global marketplace.
